6/7/2023 0 Comments Sony soundbar with subwoofer![]() Even for a show like Hacks, in which sound didn't really play a role in the overall experience, the HT-A3000 provided boosted volume with rich audio all around. TYLER HAYESĪt its core, the HT-A3000 is a really good single-unit soundbar that will improve the audio quality of whatever you're watching on TV. The HT-A3000 does a decent job of bringing big sound to places without a lot of room for multiple home theater speakers. It's longer than a Sonos Beam, but shorter than a Sonos Arc, for comparison. The soundbar measures around 37.5 inches wide, 2.6 inches tall and 5.2 inches deep. It makes the most of the area it does take up. In terms of size, the HT-A3000 isn't small, but it's not huge. For example, Bose and Sonos both tell you on their respective screens whether the movie is playing in Atmos, multichannel or stereo. It doesn't say what kind of audio is coming through for different pieces of content. I was disappointed by the lack of information shown in the app about the audio being played. You can use the Sony Music Center mobile app to change the inputs on the soundbar and adjust the volume. This will get the soundbar ready and optimized for your specific room and your audio needs. Once you get it plugged in, you will need to use the on-screen settings menu to complete the setup. It does support using an optical cable if you need it, though using one will limit the HT-A3000's output fidelity options, such as Dolby Atmos. Setup of this soundbar can be as simple as plugging in the power cord and a single HDMI cable to a TV. The HT-A3000 supports wireless rear speakers from Sony for an added cost. Mobile app didn't address all configuration and information needs.On-screen settings interface leaves something to be desired.Plenty of wireless connectivity options.Robust sound quality for a medium-size soundbar. But people limited in space should probably be the ones most interested in this soundbar. The HT-A3000 supports certain wireless subwoofers and rear speakers from Sony if you want to pay extra to go down that road. But ultimately, the soundbar can't compete with ones that have separate, dedicated subwoofers. There's enough low-end bass to round out explosion scenes. The volume can get loud without distorting. It also has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Apple's AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect and Google's Chromecast, making it a competent music streaming speaker.Īs a standalone soundbar, HT-A3000 does a great job of bringing a movie's sound to life. It supports Dolby Atmos and Sony's Vertical Surround Engine to make sounds seem like they're coming from a wider area than the soundbar itself. The Sony HT-A3000 soundbar is a 3.1 unit, meaning it has three front channels as well as a built-in subwoofer, which includes the ports on either side of the enclosure, practically speaking. Instead, it gets stuck somewhere in the middle, mostly pleasing people who want a lot of sound within a small footprint. It dabbles in higher-end features at a premium price without fully committing to being a complete home theater solution. ![]() The challenging part is determining who it's for. It's easy enough to plug in and use with a modern TV. Right up front, I'll be honest: I think the Sony HT-A3000 soundbar is a complicated product.
